Matt Christian

So, who exactly is this Matt Christian fella?

Well, I am currently a Senior Computer Science and Mathematics double major at Earlham College. I spent my pre-collegiate years in Vandalia, Ohio, which is a smallish suburb just north of Dayton, Ohio. Being from Ohio and also being a sports fan, I’m elated and proud to call myself a fan of The National Championship Ohio State Buckeye Football Team. (I still can’t get over how amazing that championship game was). All this is not to say that everything is so warm and fuzzy for me as a sports fan—I also happen to be a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. I’m sure some day either or both of these teams will get their act together. Needless to say, I also take pride in being a very patient person.

Because of my difficult and time-consuming double major (to say nothing of the fact that this is my senior year in school), I probably spend more than my fair share of time in the computer labs at Earlham. I do have other responsibilities as well: for the past two years I’ve been the business manager, webmaster, and convener of the film series at Earlham. I also happen to be employed by the Computer Science department as a quasi-DBA and a de facto Web Database Application Developer (in layman’s terms, that means that I help maintain WebDB, Earlham’s incredibly useful web-enabled database application).

Life’s not all work for me, however. I do try to take some time to have fun and relax every once in a while. I really enjoy reading, watching movies and TV, playing trivia games, but most of all—I’m sure not unlike most college students—I also like simply spending time with my pals and my girlfriend, Emily.
