Integrative Psychotherapy
What is Integrative Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy assists in easing life’s problems by increasing the strengths you have to help manage life’s stresses. By talking about your concerns, it is easier to see your issues in new ways, and to move toward greater success, ease and happiness in life. Sessions are typically once per week, although may be more or less frequent based on your needs. Duration may be brief (1 to 5 sessions), focusing on specific problem solving, or long term, examining the sources of the troubling feelings.
What can psychotherapy do for me?
Therapy can help you to identify goals of how you would like your life to be as well as what gets in the way of achieving those goals. Therapy can help you to identify the causes of your current concern,. It can also help to identify factors that maintain the problem. Once this is done we can begin to identify strategies to reach your goals and successfully attain these goals.
What effects can I expect?
In the process of exploring your concerns, clients often feel a rapid initial improvement, which is attributed to feelings of hope and increased vision of how to change. Over the course of several sessions, there may be times when you feel a variety of feelings such as sadness or anxiety. Through this process, clients often discover deeper insight into their problems, new ways of managing them, as well as an increased sense of well being. Clients may also feel reduced distress, decreased confusion and decreased irritability. Often clients are seeking the courage to act assertively, skills to work compassionately with others, or increased self-respect.
What should I know about treatment?
In this culture we often believe we should “do it on our own.” However, we are often too involved in the confusion to see effective ways out. Furthermore, just as we call an expert to fix our cars, or physicians for our physical health, it is important to seek skilled treatment for our mental concerns.
