Monty Python alumnus Terry Gilliam directed and co-wrote this dazzlingly different look at the horror of things to come. Jonathan Pryce stars as an unambitious civil servant who sees himself as a winged superhero soaring through the clouds to Xavier Cugat's "Brazil." But in reality, he is just a peon being crushed by the statea system he had never dreamt of questioning. A brilliant support cast includes Robert De Niro as another would-be superhero to rival Pryce's character, plus Ian Holm, Bob Hoskins, Michael Palin and Ian Richardson. Often thought of as a cross between 1984 and A Clockwork Orangebut with subtle Monty Python undertonesBrazil is a film not to be missed.
