Browser Settings

Animated images don’t animate in my Netscape browser. What preference or setting would you change to fix this?

Ans: In order to allow animated images to loop in Netscape, a user should go to Edit >> Preferences >> Privacy and Security >> Images. Under “Animated images should loop,” the user should select whether animations should loop once or the number of times specified by the animation’s code.

What is the full file path where the netscape preferences get stored for your own username?

Ans:

C:\Documents and Settings\kurtisw\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\b1y59fii.slt

C:\Documents and Settings\kurtisw\Recent

Rugby Retrieval

-Browse to the BBC site, in the “Search the Web” box, type in “rokocoko” and click “BBC News” radio button, then Search.

1. How many results do you find?

(A) There were 1,288 results.

Click on Results from all of the BBC tab:

2. Now how many results?

(A) There were no matches.

-Now go to the BBC sports page and search for “rokocoko” there:

3. How much effort did it take you to find the Search box, ie did you have look hard for it or was it intuitively obvious?

(A) The search box, located in the upper right corner, was easy to find.

4. Now how many results did you get?

(A) I received 5 results.

-Note that the results are ordered in “relevance” (what does this mean?) and by date UK style (day/month/year).

(A) The BBC search process has been designed to display the results by their date of publication. UK style of calendar dating states the day first, month next, and year last (20 September 2003). BBC also includes each result’s relevance, which means an article that is solely about Rokocoko will have a higher relevance than, say, an article that only briefly mentions Rokocoko.

5. Open the first story, “An Extraordinary Joe”, download the graphic (like we did on Monday) and save the web address (URL) (which you also know how to do). Now upload the graphic to appear as a popup in the current blog entry. Paste the URL into the blog entry as well.

Blogwork

1. Bold text uses the html code, "b" and "/b." Italic uses "i" and "/i."

2/3. Entry Body text is used when a reasonably short amount of type is going to be used and will be placed on the index page. Extended entry would be used if the entry is going to be too long for it all to be on the index page. An html link could then be added to take the user to the additional text.

4. If Post Status is set to Draft, the entry will not be published. In order to post, this will have to be accessed later and published.
