No these are not webcams you sick-o. QuickTime VR is something developed by Apple Computer. It consists of several photographs taken in a circle and then stitching the together to create a navigable picture, or VR. I've always felt this is one of the coolest and under-used technologies available. The type of VR below, called "Panorama" has been around for years. Apple also recently released a new technology called "Cubic VR" which allows people to not only look side to side, but up and down as well. One of my favorite sites using QTVR, both panoramic and cubic, is Castle Trek. The site may take a little while to figure out, given that it is translated from Japanese, but think it's worthwhile. You'll need the latest version of QuickTime (available here) to view these. If you don't have it already, I highly recommend the download as QuickTime is the standard video player for many sites, right up there with MediaPlayer and RealPlayer. Enjoy.
My QTVRs:
Big Nate's and my dorm room - My first VR ever
Jim Buckles' room - A much better attempt, but there're a few interesting faults (i.e. transparent chairs)
The Heart - This is a picture from the center of campus. I believe it to be my best attempt so far.
