Earlham College Challenge Education Program Philosophy
The philosophy of the ECCE Program is that through doing we can learn and we can grow through challenging the limits of our comfort zones. We can awaken the life-long learner within each of us by being actively engaged in the physical and emotional obstacles that we encounter. The delicate balance between active learning and emotional challenge promotes personal growth, potential, and experience.
To aid the delicate balance, the ECCE Program believes that an element of physical and emotional support is necessary so that risks are taken with the knowledge that failure will only lead to further growth. The ECCE Program will empower groups by focusing on teamwork, trust, communication, leadership, risk-taking, challenge, support, and success. We will work to decrease the risk of injury, emotional or physical, to anyone associated with the ECCE Program.
