A snack food company whose name I won't advertise is running a contest to name "The Most Exciting People on the Web" 
and it has nominated me. It wants visitors to its home page to vote on the nominees. I'd be prouder of this nomination if I didn't suspect that the whole game was a pretext to sell snack food.
The July/August 1999 issue of Lingua Franca named me one of "The Tech 20" or "Academia's 20 Most Wired Faculty" (pp. 38-47). The text of the story is on the web.
