The URL Clearinghouse is a database made freely available by the libraries of the State University of New York at Albany, and maintained by Laura B. Cohen, Network Services Librarian/Webmaster. It contains records for 48 journal and database vendors and gives specific instructions on how to link to a particular vendor's resources, including shortcuts, syntax to avoid, all to provide shortcuts and time-saving techniques. The Clearinghouse welcomes additions to the vendor list and suggestions and also includes a list of URL types, demonstrating that practices may vary from vendor to vendor and documentation may be lacking.
