Historical world ocean climatological data project

CLIWOC, Climatological Database for the World's Oceans 1750-1850, is a European-Union funded project to gather data from ships' logbooks found in archives of several European countries and "make freely available for the scientific community the world’s first daily oceanic climatological database for the period 1750 to 1850."
