Here are eleven freely available online ophthalmology journals. Most are Open Access, which is not coincidental when a list contains numerous entries from SciELO and BioMed Central. Two embargoed titles, British Journal of Ophthalmology and Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, are part of the enormous free scientific literature collection at HighWire Press. British Journal of Ophthalmology is further noteworthy since it is on the short list for retrodigitization, back through volume 1, at PubMed Central. I recommend the OA tracking project (OATP) as the best way to stay on top of new OA developments. You can read the OATP feed on a blog-like web page or subscribe to it by RSS, email, or Twitter. You can also help build the feed by tagging new developments you encounter.
