Introduction

Welcome to our web page on feminist issues of the Middle East. As objective as we have tried to be in creating this page, we are looking at these issues with a Western perspective. We feel that many women in the Middle East suffer from a lack of basic human rights which every person deserves. While we have not been able to examine every aspect of these women's lives, we have chosen to focus on issues that demonstrate most clearly the lack of rights with which these women live. We have focused on: marital rights, sexual rights, legal rights and movements through which these women voice their opinions.
