All I want to do is put a paper I wrote up onto the web.

Basicly, all you have to do is copy it and paste it into a new Word '97 web document.

Note, you will lose some formatting. Spacing is the aspect most affected by conversion. You will lose all tabs, extra spaces, page breaks and columns. It is easiest to simply let that formatting go and accept that the web document will not look exactly like your original. I suspect footnotes, etc. will also not transfer over…but I haven't tried it. If you really want to, you can re-do all your footnotes as plain-type numbers and endnotes.

To Begin:
Open the document you want to put on the web
Click "Edit" pull down menu
Select "Select All"
Click "Edit" pull down menu again
Select "Copy"

Open Word 97 if it is not already open (ie. if your paper was in Word Perfect)
Click "File" pull down menu
Select "New"
Click "Web pages" tab
Click "blank web page" icon

This creates a blank page and the tool bars for web page editing.

Click "Edit" pull down menu in the new blank web document
Select "Paste"

Save the new document as "filename.html"
