The political sphere in Russia is unequivocally occupied by men. Their hard line in economics and science engenders a loss of the feeling of self-preservation. Such a loss is fraught with environmental and, consequently, with geopolitical catastrophes, including the Chernobyl disaster. An independent commission created by the former Soviet Parliament and directed by a well-known publicist Jemma Firsova was able to get unique materials. However, the results of this work were buried by male politicians. No station of the Chernobyl-type was closed or remodeled.
There are many areas in Russia which bear a burden of chemical, microbiological and radioactive pollution. Moscow, in particular, has been recently transformed into a dusty, befouled, stinking habitat unsuitable for life. Women should take key positions in the local governments to take care of the cities like they take care of their homes. Woman should take a lead in this movement because current environmental situation in many areas of Russia means illnesses of our children and of future generations. In that respect we have a lot of hopes for political movement "Women of Russia" and women's faction in Duma.
